Hectic Life of American Girl update
Well it seems my life has been one roller coaster after another the past few weeks. I can relate to the saying..."when it rains it pours", well unless you live in the desert where they have closed the Forrest because of our EXTREME fire conditions. But there is hope, it's currently sprinkling as I write this post. So where do I begin...
First we had a girl scouts sleepover at the zoo...that was interesting, but don't get me wrong it was fun! Try sleeping at the zoo with a train blaring through every hour...and 12 little girls in a tent all night. They were truly angels...and I can't complain too much...
So I think when I last posted we were anticipating a gymnastics day with the girls...
They had a wonderful time and the exciting part was everyone took home a ribbon from each competition. We have another about an hour away on Saturday...
Then I went out of town for a business trip...no pictures there but I did enjoy visiting Missouri for two days. Words that come to mind to describe my trip include: Adult conversation, yummy dessert, casino fun, sleeplessness, information overload and good friends!
After returning home for a day I was off to Albuquerque with my brownie troop for some fun at the zoo and aquarium. We had 7 girls and 6 moms along for the adventure. Treating the girls to dinner at Sweet Tomatoes was a hit...and staying on the base was a great choice. Well unless your sweet, innocent daughter calls 911 and the Security Police show up at your door. Of course we had to give them the "911 only in case of emergency", lecture...but when it's the troop leaders daughter...if your the troop leader that's one embarrassing situation.
Then Sunday night my mom calls with some tragic news. Here is the article so you can get the full story. My heart aches for our friends as I can't imagine what I would do in this situation. After my dad passed away a little over a month ago Bob and Sherri were very supportive and emotional as they have been friends with my family for years. To have this happen to their son, I'm literally speechless.
And...
Friday I got stopped on base with an expired insurance card...a citation, walk home to print out new card, drive dh truck to security police to show proof of insurance, drive home, walk back to my car...and then home to get ready for our trip to the Zoo. All of that literally took two hours.
Then Tuesday I get stopped going 57 in a 45...I don't know if it was my breakdown sob fest that the police officer took pity on me...or so he said something big was going down in town and he needed to go...whatever...I got a stern warning to slow down.
But later when I took my dh truck to pick up my daughter I got stopped driving onto base with his truck for expired tags...and low and behold expired insurance card. SHIT...his tags expired in March...OOPS, but thank god the guy was understanding and instead of making me park and walk he gave me a police escort home. Everthing is taken care of now...
Today I looked up my final grades for the semester. My current GPA was 3.89...and now it's dropped to 3.0...all because of my 2 F's and a C for this semester. I know I'm responsible for this and have no regrets...it just flat out sucks. I re-enrolled for the summer into one classes for the summer session. I will pull an A just to prove to myself that an F is unacceptable. But it will help that it's the same teacher and most likely the same course work, I figure I already know what to expect.
So that about it...just trying to breath and take it one day at a time.
